25 Oct Dr Wahl’s Seminar
I had the honor of attending Dr Wahls’ seminar and retreat this August. For those of you who don’t know, Dr Wahl’s was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2000. By 2003 she progressed to secondary progressive MS and due to the increase in progression of the disease and weakness she began using a tilt-recline wheelchair. You can read more about here full story here. I’ve seen Dr Wahl’s talk a few times over the past 5 years and I have to say each time I see her she looks even healthier and happier than when I saw her last her.
Dr Wahl’s changed her diet and lifestyle and is now walking, hiking, has more energy than ever! Our body has all the intelligence it needs to recover and regenerate itself. We need to give it the proper fuel in the form of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants we get from our food. Our body is made up of a trillion cells and inside each cell is an engine called the mitochondria. If the mitochondria don’t get the proper fuel it needs (in the form of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants from our food), it doesn’t work right. What does that mean? If your cells aren’t functioning properly we may start to have symptoms such as brain fog, low energy, fatigue, chronic pain and headaches. If our cells continue to lack the proper nutrients it can progress to an autoimmune or neurological diseases such as (not limited too): multiple sclerosis, hashimotos, rheumatoid arthritis, Parkinson’s, crohns, IBS, and fibromyalgia.
Stress and Sleep are powerful predictors of your health. I love the saying, “Every cell in your body is eavesdropping on your thoughts.” Very powerful! Have you noticed that when you are happy and laughing you feel ‘light’ and energetic? In comparison to when your angry or upset you feel ‘heavy’ and weighed down? Literature has demonstrated that thoughts affect neurotransmitters, the chemical messengers that allow the brain communicate with different parts of the brain and the nervous system. Neurotransmitters control virtually all of the body’s functions, from feeling happy to making hormones and dealing with stress. Being mindful of your thoughts can have a positive affect on your health. Look at setting time limits for you to process an upsetting situation or seek guidance from someone to help release these feelings. Gratitude journals are an amazing way to shift your mindset and give you a positive focus in your life. I believe that where your attentions goes, energy flows. If you choose to focus on the more positive aspects of your life you will draw more of that to you.✨ Side note: I’m not encouraging anyone to supress any negative emotions – it’s important to acknowledge and process them in a healthy manner. It can be sooooo empowering when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable to rise above a negative situation or feelings. You will release you are stronger than you thought possible.
Per Dr. Matthew Walker (sleep expert and neuroscientist), “Sleep is the elixir of life. It is the most widely available and democratic powerful healthcare system I could ever possibly imagine.” One sleep deprived study showed a 70% reduction in critical anti-cancer fighting cells. During a deep sleep our brains cleanses itself of all the metabolic toxins that have accumulated throughout the day. There are MANY more benefits to getting the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep – I will share more in a future blog post!
I passed the Whal’s Protocol Exam in August and I’m officially a Wahl’s Protocol Practitioner!!!!! 💚 What does that mean? I’ve received in depth training on the Wahl’s Protocol and able to guide others in implementing the protocol. Does this interest you or have more questions? Schedule a free consult with me HERE and we can discuss further!
